Kendall started riding at the age of 7 in a suburb of Chicago. She was the stereotypical "barn rat", hanging around the barn on  weekend mornings hungry for opportunities. Her beginnings coming from a non-horsey family really help her approach new horse people in a realistic fashion and she understands the balance between wanting to do "all the things" to keeping things attainable and working on a budget. Some of Kendall's accomplishments:

  • Scholarship rider on the Kansas State University NCAA Equestrian Team
  • Began managing her first equestrian center and riding professionally in 2009
  • numerous year end awards from the MIHJA circuit in Illinois, to the KHJA circuit in Kansas
  • Has ridden with trainers at every level in the hunter/jumper disciplines, as well as reined cow, ranch versatility, reining, cutting, horsemanship, dressage, team penning, and roping.
  • Coached IEA teams to Nationals in both english and western disciplines for several seasons
  • Served at the IEA zone 7 region 1 president for 7 years
  • Served on the board for the Kansas Hunter Jumper Association for three years
  • Rode and Trained the 2010 year end High Point Hunter for the  American Trakhener  Association
  • Coached Kansas State University's IHSA Western team in 2016-17

Things around the farm just stop working without Chris! He is the owner of Stone Fox Farm, and also runs his own business Goose Troopers out of the property. Since acquiring the farm in 2023, Chris has worked tirelessly to button things up from finishing the stall front project, to building cross ties, wash racks, SO MANY shelves, and is meticulous about the mowing, weed eating and tree trimming.  Aside from all of the facility management aspects that Chris tackles, he is the barrel racing guru, as having been a "non-horsey dad" with an ambitious daughter he has learned a lot about the industry is an absolute master at networking and befriending pretty much everyone. If you don't see him fixing something around the farm, hooking up a trailer to haul someone somewhere or hollering encouragement across the arena you certainly will find him telling the lesson kids jokes or getting a rider to laugh at themselves!

Laura Ruhl

Laura is  the assistant trainer at Stone Fox Farm. She has been with us for 5 years now, teaching beginner to intermediate lessons and allowing the schedule to expand into days and evenings when other instructors are not available! She also has helped with the IEA team, and helps horse and people wrangle at the local shows that we attend.

She also has helped with the IEA team, and helps horse and people wrangle at the local shows that we attend. Laura has two of her personal horses here at Stone Fox Farm and enjoys riding and training them when she isn't teaching or helping her own kids get their horse fixes. We couldn't do it without her!
